AppDay 2013 was a blast!

Over 500 hundred students participated to AppDay 2013!

Rainier Beach High School hosted the first High School hackathon on May 23rd 2013. More than 500 high school and middle school students learned how to build their first games using TouchDevelop from Microsoft. It was an amazing experience! Follow us on Facebook to learn about future AppDays.

Do you want to spend a day creating mobile apps?

Form a team and join us at AppDay, where you will spend your day building mobile apps. This event is not just for programmers. Oh, and there will be tons of  prizes!

Two Divisions

  • Explorer : You’ve never done programming but you are up for a challenge! We will have special tutorials on how to build mobile apps using TouchDevelop.
  • Apprentice: You have some programming knowledge in Scratch, BYOB, Java, C#, HTML, javascript, Python. You have never written a mobile app before. Don’t worry! We will have a tutorial on how to build mobile apps using TouchDevelop.
  • Wizards: You have completed an APCS course.
  • Update: due to organization issues, we decided to drop AppInventor. DawgBytes will still be there to help us with the event.

Bring Your Own Device. Each participant should bring their own charged devices (Windows, Mac, Linux, iPad, Android, iPhone, etc…). Please setup your device ahead of time by logging in at https://www.touchdevelop.com/app.

rbhsfrontNeed a bus ride? Classes from the Seattle Public Schools travel for free. Please contact appday2013@gmail.com for details.

Need a phone? Contact us and book a phone for your team members where you will be able to use TouchDevelop.

Need Special Accommodations? Let us know if you have any special needs and we will do our best to accommodate them. If you need to borrow a computer for the contest or would like other special accommodations, please don’t hesitate to email us and ask. appday2013@gmail.com.

Raffle There will be prizes such as Xbox devices or Xbox games.

Internet will be provided during the contest; however it might be slow and unreliable due to the number of devices available. We strongly recommend to setup your device before hand.
